Terry Pratchett New Book - The Unseen Academicals

The Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett
Football has come to the ancient city of Ankh-Morpork - not the old fashioned, grubby pushing and shoving, but the new, fast football with pointy hats for goalposts and balls that go gloing when you drop them. And now, the wizards of Unseen University must win a football match, without using magic, so they're in the mood for trying everything else. The prospect of the Big Match draws in a street urchin with a wonderful talent for kicking a tin can, a maker of jolly good pies, a dim but beautiful young woman, who might just turn out to be the greatest fashion model there has ever been, and the mysterious Mr Nutt (and no one knows anything much about Mr Nutt, not even Mr Nutt, which worries him, too. As the match approaches, four lives are entangled and changed for ever. Because the thing about football - the important thing about football - is that it is not just about football. Here we go! Here we go! Here we go!

The Godmother

This book is one that'll get you crying.
The Godmother : Books - Free Delivery£5.99 Free Delivery at play

Although the look and feel of chic lit it'll really get your emotions rushing about - this is chic noir! It's got some very dark moments in a compelling story of a woman who lives a rather manic existance being godmother to her friend's children. The least maternal person in the world possibly has to deal with a wide range of children and how their lives and their parents inpact on her own life.

This was horrific to read in parts - and I did have to go and get a glass of water before coming back to it. The story is compelling and one of true friendships stretched to the limit, and showing that you can't always be there for your friends, or even see what's really going on.

A gripping read but one that will also make you feel uncomfortable.
